About the organisation
We are a leading Youth Services organisation, innovatively and progressively delivering Housing, Support and Community Intervention services to children and young people. We provide an integrated approach through the below services:

- Prevention programs – practical and therapeutic support for at-risk young people and their families.
- Outreach services, including the Beaches Youth Hub.
- Youth Housing – housing options for young people (aged 16 to 24).
- Out-of-Home Care – a range of accommodation and support options for children and young people who are or have been under the care of the Minister.
- Individualised case management and support.
- Tailored support towards independence.
About the role
We are seeking a number of experienced, committed Board Members whose track records demonstrate an ability to help take a growing organisation to its next level.
The new Board members will join an existing Board to support the organisation in realising its vision and mission as it continues to grow and mature.
Evolving organically, the organisation has more than doubled in size in the past five years, attained greater maturity and taken positive steps to strengthen its governance.
To ensure the transition to the next level can be achieved seamlessly, Burdekin is now seeking individuals with expert governance skills and demonstrated success in helping guide a growing business to the next level and develop its strategic plan.
Whilst not compulsory, highly valued skills/experience are:

- Knowledge and expertise in the provision of youth services, including Out of Home Care, Child Protection and Youth Housing or have lived experience.
- Strong governance skills including change and risk management gained on Boards or Committees or in senior executive roles, in either non-profit or commercial business.
- Strong financial skills with experience as a CFO or equivalent in a large organization and relevant qualifications
Previous experience in the not-for-profit sector coupled with governance qualifications such the AICD Company Directors course will be highly regarded.
COMMITMENT
Burdekin is seeking a minimum three-year commitment from those with the time, capacity and energy to develop strategy for the next stage of the organisation’s journey.
These voluntary roles require attendance at the bi-monthly board meetings held in Sydney or virtually and one of the two Board Committees that also meets bi-monthly.
